Grassroots Response

Grassroots Response & Discussion on Buu’s State of the Navajo Nation Address

On Tuesday, January 23, 2024 grassroots organizations and community groups across the Navajo Nation gathered at the Navajo Nation Veterans Memorial Park in Window Rock, Arizona for a livestream response and discussion on Buu’s State of the Navajo Nation Address. This livestream event took place during the 25th Navajo Nation Council Winter Session.

President Buu Nygren gave his State of the Navajo Nation Address on January 9th and January 22nd. On both occasions, he did not mention any environmental justice concerns threatening the Navajo Nation, such as helium development, uranium transportation, Diné Water Rights, and other proposed energy projects. Our goal for this event was to give grassroots and community groups to the platform to help elevate the critical environmental issues impacting our communities. Grassroots and community groups responded to Buu’s State of the Navajo Nation Address and discuss what was missing in his speeches. Check out the videos linked below to hear what we had to say.
